Mr Flava coming to Kenya and the translation of his lewd Nwa Baby Song

Mr Flava whose song Nwa Baby has been getting huge airplay inspite of its lewd vernacular lyrics will be in Kenya on October 15 for Naija Night at the Carnivore.

However, before you plan to attend this event, you may want to know the meaning of some of the words you will be asked by the artiste while performing. So before you reply to 'someone say ashawo'... you may need to check the meaning of the word.

Because I am concerned of what someone might think about you especially our Naija brodas and sisters, I have taken the huge risk of posting a translation of the song in this blog.

Be warned therefore next time you hear the song and start humming or mimicking the words-especially in the presence of a Nigerian- most so if you are a woman.

The song is literally porn in content.

Must say the beats were n are stil tempting but since you told me of the meaning! I hated it. How can 1 sing such a thing. There are lots of issuez to talk about in poetry or music, issuez of social interest.

First of all, flavour is not the original singer or writer of the song. the song was written and played by Rex Lawson in 1962. Rex Lawson is a late Nigerian artist who died in a car accident in 1971. The Nigerians and Ghanian audience Lawson penned and arranged this music for in 1962 never judged the lyrics but have always enjoyed the ease and sublimal trance the musik evoques.
Sawale does not mean virgina or open virgina in Rivers State pidgin english, lawson is an ijawman from port harcourt. it simply means "sour" sour girl/ bad girl. sour=sawale like in sour grapes or sour milk
